The Mid-Atlantic ADA Center is undertaking a new initiative, the ADA Leadership Network. This Leadership Network (LN) offers an opportunity to be a part of a network of trainers who facilitate outreach and training on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The ADA Center is currently forming a network of trainers that will make up the Leadership Network and felt you might be interested in participating.
There are so many benefits to becoming part of this LN, among them are job enhancement, in-kind support including access to many ADA resources, the latest updates, and the opportunity to network with other trainers in the Mid-Atlantic Region, just to name a few.
There will be a two-day Train the Trainer Seminar offered in Harrisburg, PA on December 11 and 12. We are also planning another training for Richmond on March 12 and 13, 2014. You can choose to attend the Seminar that is most convenient for you. During this training you become fully oriented to a brand new 50 module ADA training resource just developed by the Northeast ADA Center at Cornell University. This training resource will enable you to mix and match modules to offer training tailored to the specific needs of your audience.
As a member of the LN, we ask that you conduct a minimum of two trainings a year and participate in the LN’s Community of Practice by attending webinars and teleconferences throughout the year. The Mid-Atlantic ADA Center will support you in developing a plan for completing these activities and reporting measurable outcomes. If you provide documentation of these activities we will offer you a complimentary registration to the Mid-Atlantic ADA Update held every September.
This is a win-win proposition for everyone. To apply to become a member of the LN, please complete the application from the link below and email it to Ann Deschamps at ADA-LN@transcen.org at least one week before the Seminar you plan to attend. A link to the ADA Leadership Information flyer is also below. If you know of someone who is an excellent trainer and trains on the ADA, please forward these materials on to them. Not everyone who applies to be a member of the LN will be accepted. Candidates will need to prove their training and ADA skills to be accepted. If you have any questions, you can reach me at 1800 949-4232 V/TTY or 301 217-0124 V/TTY or ADA-LN@transcen.org.
